THINKRONIZE’S AWARD-WINNING EDUCATIONAL SEARCH ENGINE DIRECTLY SUPPORTS CANADIAN EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS PROVIDING ACCESS TO SAFE, RELEVANT CONTENT
Canadian Schools Can Now Access More Than 8,000 New Canadian-Specific Digital Resources in netTrekker d.i.
Cincinnati, Ohio (Sept. 26, 2007) – Recognizing the need to help educators worldwide identify safe and educationally-relevant Web resources for their students, Thinkronize now offers more than 8,000 new Canadian-specific digital resources through the company’s award-winning safe search engine, netTrekker d.i.
Trusted by more than 10 million K-12 students, educators and parents in North America, netTrekker d.i. provides fast and easy access, from school or home, to more than 180,000 of the best educational resources available online, in a safe, organized and standards-aligned format. In addition, the search engine assigns each prescreened resource a readability measure based on Lexile® ratings and eight other popular methods.
To augment the search engine’s wide array of resources and features that support the unique learning needs of every student, a team of Canadian educators – experts in specific subject areas – worked with Thinkronize content editors to review the Canadian curriculum and then identify and evaluate high-quality resources that specifically support the needs of educators and students throughout Canada. netTrekker d.i. also includes resources specifically designed for ESL students and special needs students with its text-to-speech feature called Read Aloud and a Dictionary/Translation Hot Key that defines or translates any word on a Web site.
The new resources in netTrekker d.i., which are aligned to provincial outcomes and expectations – including, Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia – help facilitate lesson planning for Canadian educators. Using netTrekker d.i., Canadian educators can identify a particular outcome and expectation and then easily find a supporting resource to use with their students. Thinkronize also has added a new search refinement option to netTrekker d.i. that indicates whether a resource is available in French – especially valuable for French immersion schools.
“netTrekker d.i. provides a seamless connection between school and home, allowing students to safely access educational content via the Internet,” said Mario Botticella, Principal of St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic School in Ontario, Canada. “And many parents have commented that the Read Aloud and dictionary features within netTrekker d.i. are a big plus when their children are researching topics online.”
“Canada is just the first step in a worldwide opportunity for netTrekker d.i. Although netTrekker d.i. was originally developed for U.S. educators, our new adaptation directly supports Canadian curriculum with customized content, expanded resources and standards. We are thrilled that Canadian educators are embracing netTrekker d.i. to support their educational goals,” said Randy Wilhelm, CEO of Thinkronize.
