Scavenger Hunt for Michigan Teachers
  1. Click on the Middle School tab at the top of the page and do a Keyword Search on Gettysburg. How many search results were generated? How many sites contain lesson plans? How many sites come from the area of Language Arts? How many secondary state standards relate to Gettysburg?


  2. Click on the State Standards button at the top of the page and do a Keyword Search on right triangle. How many standards relate to triangle at the high school level? Focusing on Grades 9-12 and continuing with right triangles as the Web Resource, how many search results are displayed?


  3. Create a Famous Person Search in netTrekker's Middle School section for Henry Ford. NetTrekker d.i. will display a timeline of events during Henry Ford’s lifetime. Name a world figure who was alive when Mr. Ford was born and living when he died. Name an invention, a famous novel written, and a war that took place during Mr. Ford’s lifetime.


  4. Using the Current Events section, what is the name of the local newspaper serving Detroit, Michigan?


  5. Click on Teacher Tools (High School) in the Features box. Click Technology in the Classroom. How many Technology Tools websites are reviewed in netTrekker? How many sites on Technology Integration Methods are linked?


  6. Click on the High School tab and do a Subject Search by clicking on Biology under the Science subject area. Drill down to Animals and then Endangered Species. Click on the gray "Dictionary" button next to the first web result you find. Find an unfamiliar word within the web page that opens - the word will be underlined as you hover over it. What is the unfamiliar word you clicked on? What is the definition according to Ultralingua?


  7. From the High School home page do a Keyword Search for Ben Franklin. How many resources are available for a Readability level of 5? How many resources are available for a Readability level of 2? How many resources are available at all readability levels?


  8. From the Elementary English Learners channel. Click on the Multicultural Pavilion and Acculturation to America. How many web resources are available for Citizenship? What are the Readability levels of the resources?
